babymate´s features are divided into five tabs:
Tracker Tab
The Tracker tab provides instant access to key information about your baby.
- "Quick Look" summarizes all the information you have entered. It updates you on key facts and figures about your baby, such as age, height and weight, upcoming events and developmental milestones.
- "What's Cooking" is a fun way of comparing your baby's height against that of an average baby.
- "Events" provides a shortcut to the events list in the Calendar tab.
- "Milestones" provides a graphical representation of your baby’s development, and lets you set the date when each milestone is reached.
- “Community” is a social and location-aware environment where you can share baby events and milestones with other parents worldwide. Post your updates to Facebook, Twitter and upload photos to Flickr.
- "Images" lets you take pictures of your baby, which are stored both in babymate and in your iPhone’s Photo Library.
Measures Tab
The Measures tab lets you visualize and update your baby’s growth data, such as height, weight, head circumference, body mass index (BMI) and growth percentiles. The scrollable graphs show your baby’s growth curve based on the data you enter month by month. The BMI values are derived from your baby’s height and weight, so make sure you enter values for both (with dates that match) if you want babymate to calculate your baby’s BMI.
The graphs’ trend lines and growth percentiles are based on data from the World Health Organization (www.who.org). The black line indicates the mean value, the grey lines indicate one and two standard deviations, and the red lines indicate three standard deviations in each direction.
You can add/delete values and view the graph data as a list by pressing List. You can also change the measurement units in the Settings tab. Geo-tag and share any measures taken with parents worldwide in the babymate Community using the heart-shaped button!
If you have more than one baby, no problem! Go to the Settings tab, add as many babies as you like and then set which one is currently active.
Calendar Tab
The Calendar tab provides an easy way to keep your baby’s appointments in mind. Just like the iPhone Calendar app, you can easily move from one month to the next and get more detail by accessing the event list. You can browse the events for each day, move from one month to another and even jump to any date by pressing Go To and selecting the desired month.
You can also assign an image to every event, allowing you to use babymate as a photo journal of your babies activities. Geo-tag and share any event with parents worldwide and learn about their experiences through the babymate Community using the heart-shaped button!
babymate comes with a preloaded set of events that are considered typical during the first two years of your baby’s life, including vaccines, medical appointments and anniversaries. You can modify or delete these events at any time, and add new ones. The preloaded vaccine events are based on the Vaccine Schedule selected in Settings. You can change this base schedule at any time.
Disclaimer: the preloaded events and vaccines schedule is provided purely for reference and babymate is not liable for its misinterpretation or misuse. Please consult your doctor or pediatrician for advice on when to book vaccinations and regular check-ups.
Knowledge Tab
The Knowledge tab provides essential information on the main issues and concerns related to your baby’s care and development. Each section contains a series of short articles, based on multiple sources, which are designed to provide you with the key facts you need to know about your baby’s health. These include the most common illnesses affecting babies, vaccines and their side effects, and top tips on issues such as sleep and breast feeding.
babymate will expand its collection of articles with each new update.
Settings Tab
The Settings tab lets you manage your preferences. You can add, edit and delete babies, and set which one is currently active for the application. You can also define if Quick Look automatically opens when the app starts, set the measurement units (Imperial or Metric) and change the vaccination schedule. You can easily export and import your babies data via email as a backup or for sharing, activate multiple mode for Measures and Events, and set the way you share in the babymate Community.

The time axis automatically changes to a relative scale and a color legend appears letting you know which curve represents which baby. Note: any growth values that are edited will still correspond to the active baby.
